The graduating tauira of the Maunga Kura Toi weaving programme at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa share their raranga works with you. The programme encompasses all aspects of Māori weaving and maintains the practices and techniques of the ancestors.
Whiria is the act of intertwining, bringing together lineage, creativity, and purpose. While Wawata embodies the aspirations that guide each weaver’s journey.
This exhibition honours the deep whakapapa of weaving and contributes to the living art of raranga as a contemporary expression. Layer upon layer, each generation of weavers reveals itself through their work and the stories it carries.
