Pravina is a master of creating book form art works. She is very focused in her practice on using cheap or free materials that are in everyone’s daily world to create these forms. In this exploratory workshop you will be guided in transforming playing cards, teabags, grocery packaging, tissue paper etc into unusual shaped books. You will be given enough guidance that you will be set to explore a world of new material possibilities. Great for those of us who are budget conscious or are focusing on stash busting.
During the workshop you will create small tactile journals using a variety of techniques and materials. We will be making fabric hexagon shaped books, books from grocery packaging, teabag journals, playing card journals, tissue paper journals, brown paper journals – anything goes!
You will be concentrating mainly on the covers, leaving your pages to assemble at home. You can focus on just one technique or try your hand at all of them. We will also discuss ways to use your journals, themed journals, creating the pages and binding the journals.
This class is a chance to play and experiment. As the requirements for this class focus on recycling materials, there is no need to buy anything. I will have spare materials for you to use as well.
