Jeanette talks about the works in her current solo exhibition - 'cut/uncut'.

"The term “multi-media art” in its inherent vagueness, can be used to describe my work, to some extent.  However, there is a definite duality in my approach - a figurative and narrative style on the one hand and on the other, a boldly abstract, geometric 3-D exploration of colour, texture and form.

In this ongoing body of work, I am exploring the possibilities of origami corrugations in the realm of fibre art and abstract painting. The dimensionality of the folded paper and/or fabric provides a sculptural base on which to work. Each work consists of either a single sheet of hand-scored folded paper with no joins or of a surface made up of several elements but essentially a single plane before it is it is folded. Texture is added through the addition of paint and other fibres or textiles but in some of the works, the main material is central and is left largely unadorned. Occasionally I like to contrast the precision of the folds with intuitive painting and colour choices. The addition of long stitch and/or woven elements creates further planes that adds interest by the ever-changing shadows that are cast by both the threads and planes."
