Kutarere Sunrise and Trifecta – 14 Aug–21 November 2021  |  Experience two very different exhibitions by multi-media artist Lauren Lysaght. Lysaght likes to recycle materials, creating work that responds to and provokes thinking about social issues. With Trifecta the focus is on gambling and the fantasy land that it promises. In Kutarere Sunrise we enter the butcher shop of Lauren’s childhood memory. With its mixture of dead seriousness and humour, female craft and reflections on male labour, Kutarere Sunrise is a longing tribute to Nelson Lysaght, who Lauren remembers as a kind and loving father. On display at Te Manawa Art Gallery 14 Aug–21 November 2021.
