As acclaimed Kiwi photographer Marti Friedlander travelled around the country, she made a point of seeking out artists, capturing portraits of them in their homes and studios.
This combined exhibition features those photographs together with works by each of the artists. We can follow Rita Angus, Ralph Hotere, Toss Woollaston and more along a timeline of cultural changes, and see the evolution of New Zealand contemporary art across the latter half of the 20th century.
