This exhibition highlights the works of twin sisters exhibiting together in a stand alone show for the first time.
Jeanette Gillies explores art quilt making. She meticulously hand-dyes all her fabrics either with a resist method or botanical dying process. After that works are machine quilted, appliquéd, surface stitched and embellished as the subject matter calls for. The works are painterly and reflect a love for our New Zealand lifestyles and landscapes.
Jennifer Patterson has honed her skills in rust printing and botanical dying to produce a stunning body of ethereal but strongly present works. Surface embellishment adds to the layering and depth of [prints Jennifer uses. Every work has a story behind it that is evoked in the piece.
