Feilding Art Centre
Operated by the Feilding & District Art Society, the Feilding Art Centre is a vibrant creative hub with over 200 members, playing a vital role in the cultural heartbeat of our region. The Society was formed to bring together local artists and art groups, creating a shared space where creativity can thrive and the community can connect through the arts.
🏆 In 2025, we were honoured at the Feilding & Districts Impact Awards, winning “Proudly Putting Feilding and Districts on the Map” and being named finalists for the Community Impact Award. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to fostering creativity, strengthening community connections, and demonstrating the powerful role the arts play in enriching lives.
At the heart of our programme are our diverse events and exhibitions. Each July, we host the Manawatū Art Expo, our flagship fundraiser and a major celebration of regional talent. In November, we launch our Annual Calendar Fundraiser, featuring local artwork while offering businesses a valuable opportunity to support the arts and gain community visibility.
Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy monthly exhibitions showcasing both emerging and established artists. These include significant events such as the Manawatū Art Awards and the Manawatū Youth Art Exhibition, highlighting creativity across all ages and stages.
Our Centre is also home to a notable collection of Salvador Dalí etchings and Joan Miró lithographs, generously gifted for public enjoyment and education. These works are showcased annually at the Manawatū Art Expo, with selected pieces available for sale or auction, while others are retained to support ongoing learning and community engagement.
The Art Centre Shop offers a curated selection of handcrafted works, including paintings, ceramics, jewellery, and sculpture—making it the perfect place to find unique gifts or invest in original art.
We provide a wide range of opportunities for participation and learning. Affordable art classes for children aged 5–14 are held upstairs, supporting young creatives in a fun and encouraging environment thanks to the support of CCNZ and the Trillian Trust. Downstairs, weekday mornings are filled with artist-led workshops and informal “have-a-go” groups, where people come together to share skills, learn, and connect. We also offer Creative Team Building Workshops for businesses, providing engaging, hands-on experiences that inspire collaboration and fresh thinking.
Behind everything we do is a passionate team: a dedicated board, two staff members, and around 52 volunteers who contribute over 3,500 hours each year. Their generosity, time, and energy make it possible to deliver exhibitions, programmes, and community outreach initiatives.
Whether you’re visiting to experience art, develop your creativity, or find something special to take home, the Feilding Art Centre offers a warm and welcoming space for all.
