In a large mural commissioned by OBO founder Simon Barnett, Artist Graham Hoete, known as Mr G, has painted these larger-than-life portraits of Sir Apirana Ngata, Sir Edmund Hillary and Kate Sheppard on the side of OBO's Mihaere Drive building in Palmerston North.
OBO founder Simon Barnett said Hillary, Ngata and Sheppard were chosen by himself and OBO staff because they reflected the values of his business, which makes protective sports gear.
Hoete was eager to create the mural because of the values the three identities represent and their contribution to New Zealand. "I took on the project because it aligns with what I'm about. All three of them cover a broad range of what it means to be a New Zealand legend."
