Quartz, Museum of Studio Ceramics is the only dedicated museum for studio ceramics in Aotearoa New Zealand.
This unique Museum opened in November 2015. Rick Rudd, a studio potter, set up the Rick Rudd Foundation, a charitable trust, in 2013 and bought the building to house the Museum in 2014. He has given the building and his large collection of studio ceramics to the Foundation.
In 2019 well-known Wellington collector, Simon Manchester bequeathed his extensive ceramic collection to the Rick Rudd Foundation. Over 500 works from this collection are permanently displayed.
