Issues of sustainability and care of the environment are a catalyst for ideas sparked by a love of nature and the land. An established artist, Cooke believes in the pursuit of excellence, working through ideas on many levels and using only the best quality tools and materials. Cooke is a recipient of major awards, nationally and internationally, including New Zealand’s Tylee Cottage Artist in Residence in 1990 & 1991 and the New York based Pollack Krasner Award in 2015  & 2016. Her work is held in many public and private collections in New Zealand and overseas. Housed in an historic building amidst a cluster of galleries and creatives this working studio and gallery is a must visit whilst in Whanganui.
