Suzanne McAllen is a skilled potter based in Ashhurst, creating unique and beautiful pieces that are both practical and artistic. Each piece is carefully considered and crafted with form and function in mind, with simple touches, such as a subtle thumbprint or a glaze run here and there to create a special connection between the maker and the user.
The gorgeous glazes used in her work create a lovely aesthetic that often emphasizes the beauty of imperfection. Her work is loved by those who appreciate the value and charm of handmade functional pottery.
Suzanne has a casual shop on her front verandah, which is open anytime. No appointment is necessary; please drive onto the property to park safely at 181 Oxford Street, Ashhurst, which is just a short drive from Palmerston North CBD, on the way to The Saddle (or the very soon-to-be Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway).
Bespoke pottery workshops or one-on-one tuition available in 2025 for both handbuilding and wheelwork.

Saturdays - midday until dusk
Sundays - midday until dusk
Weekdays - I don't always put my sign out, so just stroll on in (or drive in) - I have pottery for sale on my front verandah, so please feel free to open the little gate on the verandah and let yourself in (there are payment instructions and DIY wrapping for if I am not home). At times, I have more pots out in my studio. I’m mostly pottering around the property somewhere but might pay to check beforehand if making a special trip if you specifically want to meet with me. Thanks, Suzanne :)
